“Too often … “

… “I would hear men boast of the miles covered that day, rarely of what they had seen.” — Louis L’Amourwp-1458192637513.jpg

One of the nice things about traveling is getting to meet new and different people.  And, it’s always nice to find out where they’re from, where they’re going, where they’ve been and, how long they’ve been doing this.

However, it’s amazing (to me) how many we’ve met who travel the same route every year, staying in the same places and seeing the same things.

One couple was heading back home.  The wife told me that her husband had already made reservations in the hotels they would be staying in on the two-day trip home.  They know where all the fuel stations are, all the rest areas, and the restaurants.  Their trip here and back is the same every year.

One fellow we were talking to is Canadian.  He was telling us that the past three seasons they had travelled the entire U.S. and seen everything there is to see.

I guess that we’re a little more laid back.  We like to reach destinations, but our goal is not just the travel.  For us, this is a life-style, not a vacation.

Besides, it’s kind of nice to take some time to hold a sleeping dog on my lap.
